a few places to visit

FUSHIMI INARI TASHA - PHOTO LINKED: GOOGLE MAPS

tori gate deja vu

Everyone needs that photo at the FUSHIMI INARI SHRINE with all the orange tori gates. There is no admission and can get extremely busy during peak time. Avoid weekends and if you’re trying go early so it’s empty. If you want that shot, go at the crack of dawn. I know that sounds dramatic but it is so empty, serene and quiet so it’s basically all yours. Traffic starts flowing in at 8:00 so be prepared. It’s definitely less busy weekdays but after 8:00-8:30 and beyond, it’s just a nightmare. As always, check the above linked photo (labeled) for the Google Maps attachment.

ARASHIYAMA BAMBOO FOREST - PHOTOS LINKED: GOOGLE MAPS

get deep into the forest

ARASHIYAMA BAMBOO FOREST is a popular destination for many travelers. I’ve actually come across a few of you guys at this forest! The nice thing about the forest is it is giant unlike the Inari shrine. So you can really go deep into the bamboo forest and take all the photos you want. Though if you’re wanting that empty shot, come early. Like the Inari shrine, this is no admission free and open all day though I can’t imagine someone wanting to be there at 3 in the morning.
